Orby Thelma Brownen passed away at 101, November 2, 2019. Born April 16, 1918 to Alva and Nettie Campbell. She was raised on a small farm in Maud, Oklahoma along with 3 older sisters, Amy, Letha and Velma and 1 younger brother, Roland. Her family moved to a small farm in Tuttle, Oklahoma when she was 10, where she attended Tuttle High School. After school, she moved to Oklahoma City where she worked for the Daily Oklahoman and as a doctors receptionist during the hard depression years of the 1930's.
At age 25 she met and, later, married Francis Ford. They were married for over 22 years. He died somewhat early at age 62. They had 3 children, Stephen, John and Rebecca. At age 50 Orby was surprised when she met Russell Brownen who had been her childhood sweetheart when they were growing up in Tuttle, Oklahoma. They were later married and spent nearly 18 years together before his death in 1986.
She deeply loved her family and friends, she loved animals and birds, loved gardening and developed a deep passion for art and painting. She taught watercolor classes for nearly 20 years and many of her students became some of her closest friends. She attended Brookwood Baptist church until health issues made it too difficult to attend.
She is survived by son, Steve Ford, son, John Ford and wife Nancy, with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Russell Brownen, daughter, Rebecca Ford, stepson, Russell Brownen, Jr., parents, Alva and Nettie Campbell, brother Roland Campbell, sisters, Amy Smith , Letha Calvert, and Velma Campbell.
Memorial Service will be held in the chapel of Moore Funeral and Cremation, 400 SE 19, Moore, Oklahoma, at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2019
