Lawatha Carroll (Streight) Brown passed away on February 4, 2021, in Norman, Oklahoma.

Lawatha was born in Oklahoma city, Oklahoma on July 1, 1937, to parents James Albert Streight and Essie Mae (Wilder) Streight. She was the oldest of six children. Lawatha married Allen E. Brown in 1954 at the age of 17 and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City in 1957. Mr. Brown was in the Army, which took them to Germany in 1959. She was a homemaker for many years and then entered retail sales. Lawatha cherished family and loved big family gatherings. She especially enjoyed helping her family, physically or financially. She never said “no”, especially to her grandkids. Whenever someone needed her, she was always there.

In her younger years, she loved to dance, go to the casino, and watch her soap operas. She loved her fur companion, Maja, who watched over her and always let her know when someone was at the front door. Lawatha was a member of Faith Lutheran Church since 1960.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Essie Mae Streight; father, James A. Streight; husband, Allen Brown; and brother, Jimmy Streight.

She is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Brown of OKC, Alicia Hertlein (Terry) of Moore, and Jennifer Diggs (John) of Moore; siblings, two sisters, Dr. Norma Leslie Miller (Truman) of Arizona, Francile Evans (Roland) of OKC, and two brothers, Edward Streight of OKC and Dr. John Streight (Brenda) of Ponca City, OK. She has seven grandchildren, Leslie Martinez (Javier), Melissa Brown (Rudy), Chris Brown, Stevie Walker (Patricia), Tommi Nunn (Alex), Terry Hertlein, and Christina Hertlein. She has nine great-grandchildren, Daniella, Makenzie, Matthew, Kiara, Felicity, Penelope, Zayn, Rian, and Emmaline.
