Laura Elizabeth Martin, of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at the age of 67. Laura was born on May 21, 1955 to Richard A. Martin and Betty Dale Martin, née Garfield. Laura graduated high school from Sheldon, IL in 1974 and entered the U.S. Army in June of 1974. She served honorably until August of 1988. She originally trained for artillery, but cross trained in medical working in hospitals, offices and as a field medic. Laura earned many accolades for her outstanding dedication, job performance and community service. During her service she was attached to NATO/SHAPE in Belgium and later NATO in Germany, after adding a secondary MOS in Pershing missiles. After military service she continued in the medical field in hospitals and senior care facilities. Her last 18 years were in food service preparing and delivering meals to hospital patients at OU Medical Center. There she was also applauded for her dedication, performance quality and amiable personality. Laura was an avid sports fan, playing softball and supporting women's college sports. She had many pets and helped foster several more. She loved her stuffed animals, chocolates, OU and the color blue.
In lieu of flowers, a stuffed animal, which will be donated to the fire department, would be preferred.
Laura is survived by her brother, William Martin; and long-time friend of 40 years, Dawn Bender.
Laura is preceded in death by her sister, Linda Diana Martin Arnold; grandparents, Orin Dale Garfield and Faye Elizabeth Peck and Emmett Herbert Bigger by Faye's second marriage; and Simon Martin and Mildred M. Carlson Martin Frazier.
