Tribute

Kenneth (Kenny) Rogers was born May 15, 1931, in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Reverend Thomas Lawton Rogers and Bernadine (Bernie) Webb-Rogers.   Kenny was one of 4 children born to Lawton and Bernie.  Faye Ellen Hyde, Clara Mea Garrison, Kenny Paul Rogers and Zoleta Ruth Ellis.  Kenny’s sister, Zo is the last remaining sister in whom he enjoyed close contact with her over the years.

Kenny married Patsy Ann Hanley on April 30, 1955 - they were one month away from their 68th Wedding Anniversary.  Kenny and Patsy had two children, Reginald Mark in 1960 and Tereasa Darlene in 1963.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Patsy Ann of Oklahoma City; his son Mark of Oklahoma City and daughter Tereasa of Edmond.  He is also survived by Mark’s sons Nyle and Cale and Mark’s wife Patricia and their son Jude.  Kenny is also survived by his grandson Nyle and his wife, Jennifer and their son Jack and daughters Kylie and Kairi of Oklahoma City.  Kenny is also survived by many loved nephews and nieces.

Kenny served for 2 years in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.  Stationed in Germany he learned many German words he enjoyed using throughout his lifetime.  He also worked for 2 local dairies for over 30 years and his last few years he retired from Quest Diagnostics.  His family loved to hear the tales of various medical items Kenny had to pick up for Quest that brought a lot of joy and humor to his stories.

In the last few years of life, the joy of Kenny’s days included his wonderful children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and friends.  Kenny became fondly known as “Pop” by his grandchildren and enjoyed many events and experiences with them and many stories to share!

Kenny had an especially special time with his sister-in-law, Par Hayes (of Edmond) who came to visit and brought lots of laughter and fun.  Kenny also shared a close relationship with his ‘adopted spiritual daughter’ Pam Twigger (of Edmond) who brought so much joy and laughter to him.

Kenny was a lifelong believer in Jesus Christ.  He spent many days reading the Bible out loud and one of his favorite scriptures was Haggai 2:9 AMP - ‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says the LORD.  Kenny lived a long and happy life filled with the love of God and the love of his family.

We are honored to know that our husband, dad, grandpa loved God with all his heart.  His last words were, I am just waiting to go home and be with my Lord.

We honor the life of Kenny and the legacy of him knowing and serving the one True God Jehovah.  You will be missed - but Heaven rejoices in your homecoming.
