Keith Randall Berry

On May 25, 1955, Samuel Berry Jr. and La Vonta Jacobs gave birth to a bouncing baby boy and named him Keith Randall Berry.

The 2nd of six children, Keith grew up in a tight knit community in Guthrie, Oklahoma called the “Elbow”. As a child he was full of life. He loved Bruce Lee and often got in trouble for practicing in the house and breaking things. On family nights he did a mean impersonation of the legend, “James Brown”.

He attended elementary schools in Guthrie. He was witty and skipped kindergarten and 1st grade. He graduated with Honors as Salutatorian of his class in Guthrie High School in 1972. He was a proud member of the ROTC Drill Team, which lead him to join the Army in 1973. He attended basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and later trained at Fort Bragg in North Caroline. His adventurous nature led him to join the 82nd Airborne, where he trained as a paratrooper.

Keith was always a lover of fast cars. He loved NASCAR. Even as a teenager he would sneak the neighborhood kids into his mother’s car and wiled them around the neighborhood and park the car back before mother got home. Later he would own and drive his own sports cars (a red Tiburon and a white Genesis).

He married the love of his life, Verna Points, on May 9, 1986. When he married Verna he embraced, loved, and raised four wonderful sons, Brad Golay, Charles Golay, Daniel Berry, and Yuseph Dizani. The joy of his life was being a father and grandfather of 17 grandchildren.
Keith had many hobbies. For one, he loved a well-manicured lawn and kept it so soft you could take a nap on it. He was also a huge fan of OU Women’s basketball and knew each player and their strengths and weaknesses.

He was a perfectionist in everything he did, which showed in the meticulous way he took pride in detailing cars. Not only did he keep his own cars detailed, but he ministered to others by providing full details and refused to take a penny for compensation.

Keith was multi-talented. He worked in the oil industry as a security guard, and in various positions at Tinker Air Force Base.

Anyone who knew Keith had to fall in love with him. He had an infectious laugh and wonderful sense of humor. He was a genuinely kind person and went out of his way to help anyone who needed a helping hand.

Most importantly, Keith was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and a believer in the word of God. He was baptized as a child at Macedonia Baptist Church. He was born again while attending the Praise Center Worship Center under the pastorage of Mike Moroney.

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Berry Jr.; mother, La Vonta Harge; step-father, Herlon Harge; two sisters, Eugenia Johnson (Ray) and Valencia Chunn (Michael); and one brother, Paul Points.

He leaves to celebrate his life four sons, Charles Golay (Joanne) and Brad Golay (Heather) – both of Ponca City, OK, Daniel Berry and Yuseph Dizani (Lyndsay) – both of Moore, OK.; three brothers, Kirk Berry and William Ellis – both of Oklahoma City, OK, and Benji Points of Moore, OK.; three sisters, Valorie Gray (Howard) of Los Angeles, CA., Fatina Hogan (Ted) and Eileen Simpson (Miles) – both of Oklahoma City, OK.; and his aunt, Ollie Jacobs of Houston, TX.
His legacy continues with his sons and 17 grandchildren and host of nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends who he would leave these words of encouragement: “You can do all things through Christ, who strengthens you”.

Friends and family will gather for a visitation from 5pm – 7pm on Friday, June 3, 2022 and a funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, June 4, 2022, both at Moore Funeral and Cremation. Interment will follow at Moore City Cemetery with military honors being rendered.
