Jean Paul Fisher

JEAN PAUL FISHER 1936 – 2020

Jean Paul Fisher, 84 of OKC, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.  He was born in Holdenville, OK on May 16, 1936 to Melba (Gipson) Holt, then adopted by Allen R. Fisher and Lorena (Buck).  He grew up in Tupelo, attended Mid-West City HS.  Entered Marines in 1954, honorable discharged as Corporal (E-3) Nov 5, 1961.  In 1955 married Barbara Tebow, had four daughters, Connie, Sherri, Kim & Julie.  His love for “truck driving” started in Seattle, taking him to Dallas, then back to OKC where he worked for Leeway for 12 years. In the mid-70’s, he married Janice and adopted daughter, Tonya. In 1976, he went to work for Teamsters Local #886 on the docks, then becoming a Business Agent running the Union Hall. He became Vice President until he retired in 1992.  He continued his stewardship by being an Arbitrator for the Union for many years.  He moved to Grand Lake, taking his parents with him, and married Darlene Bocock in 1995, gained two more daughters, Tonja (Bill), & Karla (Craig) and adopted son Ray.  Many years of family memories were made with 14 Grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews - Christmas being the best.  He moved to Harlingen, TX, 2006 to care for his Aunt Juanita.  He moved back to OKC in 2014 to be closer to family.

JP was a very proud Chickasaw Tribe member.  He earned his 32nd Degree Mason in 1989, one of his most honored achievements.  He received from the Secretary of Defense Ronald Rumsfeld, a Certificate of Recognition for his Service during the Cold War (2 Sep 45 – 26 Dec 91) in promoting peace and stability for this Nation.

He loved spending time with his large, extended family, he loved a cold beer, all types of food. Loved reading, animals, his Purple Martins, gardening, Golf, OU football, teaching his 4 daughters how to fish and carrying on that tradition with his grandsons. Other interest were traveling, Model A’s, Aviation, and Genealogy, as he was adopted, it was important to him to find out where he came from. He loved the lake and spent every weekend camping, roughing it in tents, swimming, and teaching Tonya Lou how to ski, even though he could never master it!

JP was a loyal, generous man with the utmost integrity, a true Gentleman.  To be in his presence was truly an honor and always a lesson to be learned.  His love is known by many, he will be missed beyond belief. So many lives are better – because of him.

Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pat; brothers, Mike &, Wallace; grandson, Kevin; wives, Janice, Barbara & Darlene.   He is survived by his 9 children, 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren , his new Bride of 2/20/20, Toni Fisher of the home; gaining daughter, Gina and husband, Brett; son, Bryan and wife Kaylen.  Toni & Fish married after 38 years of friendship & love, together they spent the last two years getting reacquainted, dining out, going to Casinos, & enjoying their new life together.
