Gregory Scott Ledford

May 13, 1973 ~ September 28, 2022 (age 49) 49 Years Old

Tribute

Gregory “Scott” Ledford, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the age of 49.

Scott was born on May 13, 1973, to Jack and Diana Ledford in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He graduated from West Moore High School. He enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 18 and served for 4 years stationed out of Norfolk, NJ. He was blessed to be able to travel the world in those 4 years. Scott followed in his grandfather footsteps and became a truck driver shortly after leaving the Navy. Scott started his oilfield career with BJ Services and Weatherford. He has spent the last 6 years with Cactus Wellhead and considered everyone there a second family.

Scott welcomed Magen Ledford, his blue-eyed baby girl, in January 1991 and his handsome son Justin Ledford in July 1994. His family meant the world to him, and he would tell stories about them to anyone that would listen. Scott was soon advanced to the role of Papa and his world would never be the same. His grandbabies were the pride of his life and he spoiled them rotten. Brycen, Tyler, Ava, Kyndall and Nova Ledford. He also enjoyed spending as much time with his family as possible. He loved watching Brycen play football and Ava play softball and was the loudest fan in attendance. Every time he showed up it would completely Light up their world and they always played extra hard because their papa was there!

Scott was an avid outdoorsman he loved to hunt; could almost always be found fishing his favorite ponds in his free time. He would fish any pond that he was allowed to fish and sometimes ponds he didn’t have permission to fish. Scott was rough around the edges but had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back or the money in his wallet to help you out, sometimes while also letting you know if you messed up. You knew where you stood with him regardless of the situation. If you asked him, he could ride anything with 4 legs and loved teaching his grandbabies anything about riding horses and fishing. Sometimes he would get a little full of himself with horses and try and get into his “Old Cowboy ways” thinking he was younger and more agile than he was, which he always paid for later. Scott had a love for shooting and buying guns. He loved cracking a cold one with friends and family while sitting around joking and telling stories.

In addition, Scott is survived by his father, Jack Ledford Jr.; his sister, Heather Scrimshire and husband Chris Scrimshire; his kids, Magen Ledford and son, Justin Ledford and wife Amanda Ledford; his grandkids, Brycen, Tyler, Ava, Kyndall and Nova Ledford; his nieces, Emily Scrimshire, Baylee Tuck and husband Tyler Tuck; his sister, Carmen Sawyers and husband Robert Sawyers.

Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Diana Ledford; Paternal Grandparents, Jack and Frances Ledford; Maternal Grandparents, Cleo and Bell Byrd; as well as his favorite cousin, Johnny Woodring.
