Bertha Tooman

Bertha Pauline Tooman, of Bethany, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the age of 59. Bertha was born on August 12, 1963 in Lubbock, Texas to J.R. and Alice Sue (Irvin) Helton. She absolutely loved spending time with her family. Her kids were her life until she had grandkids. Once she had the grandkids around, she found all she wanted to do with her life. She lived for them and was the most loving mother and grandmother. Bertha worked at Walmart for 10 years and for Uptown Grocery around 5 years as a Deli Clerk. She absolutely loved her job. She loved the people and the people loved her. Working at Uptown brought her through a lot of struggles in her life and gave her confidence and a sense of independence. She was very proud of her work. Bertha was also a big fan of oreos, and she loved her Milk Chocolate Blue Bell Ice Cream (the only brand of ice cream she would have). She was truly one of a kind and is deeply missed.

Bertha is survived by her children, Tommy Lee (Helen Danielle) Helton, Amber Dawn Martin, and Matricia Martin (Brian Hurley); grandchildren, Ammhehyst Jade Helton, Tommy Danzig Helton, Scottland Rose Helton, Patrick Crash Helton, Josephine Mia Hurley, Amberia Ramona Martin-Chavez, and Cylis Ramone Martin; siblings, Patricia (Donald) Blalack, Morris (Kristina) Helton; and Margaret Ann (Jack) Mellendorf; and her cat companion, Charlie.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, J.R. and Alice Sue (Irvin) Helton; grandparents, Viola Lee and Tommy Dan Irvin; and brothers, Stephen Dale Helton and Michael Dean Helton.

A visitation will be held from 4pm – 8pm on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Moore Funeral and Cremation. No services planned at this time.
